Schuylkill Christian Church

History of Schuylkill Christian Church
Schuylkill Christian Church has been in existence since 1983. Our first minister was Bob Hale, and it was his vision to start a New Testament church in Schuylkill County. Our first meeting place was around a kitchen table in a home on Deiberts Valley Road. As we grew, the Masonic Lodge in Orwigsburg became available. We were there about 4 years, until we purchased the former Youth For Christ building at 44 Dock Street, Schuylkill Haven. Bob Hale then returned to the Pittsburgh area, his home town, to take a pulpit at a larger church there. Since then we have had two ministers, and our current minister is Steve Letcavage. In May of 2011 we moved into our current location which is located on Pennsylvania Route 183 in Wayne Township across from the entrance to Lake Wynonah. We are a growing church, including families with children ranging from preschool age through college. Our purpose statement is "to bring glory and honor to God the Father and to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." Our congregation is an independent church, meaning we have no denominational name or organization. We hire and pay our own pastor/minister. What is a Christian Church?
A Christian church is a body of believers who have been called out from the world by God to live as his people under the authority of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23).
